Colluricincla harmonica Or, simply, Grey Thrush, this engaging bird is common throughout Australia except for arid regions and a delightfully unafraid visitor to gardens. Most sources agree that these birds form lifelong pairs and I'm glad that they've claimed the garden as territory - there are other Shrike-thrushes around too - their crisp and lovely song can be heard echoing in the distance. (listen here) They do make for pleasant company when I'm working in the garden, often curious about what I'm up to and always keenly interested in any digging.
