When I first spied this parrot I thought it was a different species -
It was a rush to get the camera and this, unfortunately, out of focus photo. It was only when it turned around that I realised it was a Crimson Rosella in moult.
Am more used to seeing them looking like this -
Then I saw the parents of the first bird drinking from the hanging birdbath. While Crimson Rosellas do have white or pale blue tips to their tails these are impressive.
Plenty to make the heart glad, though. The Monarch Butterflies are pausing here as they follow the summer flowers -
- and the Red Wattle Bird rests on a bench while considering the logistics of getting some Kangaroo Paw nectar from flowers at the end of a slender stem.
