Big day yesterday for the babies - first they fluttered over to the toothbrush grevillea and had a taste of everything. They were quite exposed (as you can see) and the parents seemed nervous about magpies around, so encouraged them back. Later the babies had a short excursion to the bottlebrush in front of their tree and were feeding themselves from the flowers. Here's one parent refuelling - Then I saw that there was a third LW feeding the chicks. I can only speculate that this is a female relative - perhaps too young to have bred this year or unsuccessful. The parents tolerated her for the most part, she was chastised occasionally and eventually driven away. She is quite distinctive with the yellow around her beak. Here she extracts a bug to feed the babies.
