Walking eastwards outside the garden fence in the late afternoon I saw this bright light that seemed almost like fire... So of course I went bush for a closer look... and the source was... Golden Wattle gum. Looks good enough to eat, which it is, apparently - well, the lighter, golden syrupy-looking stuff - darker gum has higher levels of tannin. It is snacked upon by Aboriginal people and made into a sweet drink. Perhaps I'll try some. Have you? The wait for spiderlings continues - what do you think of that, Mr Blue Wren?
