Just hatched - on this page I'll record any arthropods I find and photograph. Will do my best to identify them(if you can help, please do), but I expect there'll be quite a collection in to 'To be identified' section at the bottom. Have changed my view on the importance of identification - didn't think it mattered much, but now, when I find an interesting looking creature I need to know what it's called if I want to learn more about it. I must confess that I find taxonomy very taxing - can only do my best and hope that any errors will be pointed out. Before I started this I would have said that spiders and millipedes were insects, so it's a very steep learning curve. Anyhow, the Australian Museum says there are an estimated300,000 plus insect species alone in Australia, but only 160,000 have been named or described. We'd better make a start.
Blue text, usually on Latin name, is link to source of identification or information.
